Exploring the Sense of the Sacred and the Power of Our Thoughts
Do you ever find yourself feeling taken aback by things that don't necessarily warrant those emotions? For artist Kempken, this sensation often arises when she encounters something that she senses is important and sacred, even if it's not immediately obvious why. While she might walk past ancient ruins with little reaction, she might be overcome with awe and trepidation at the sight of something else entirely. This feeling can be so intense that it gives her pause, as if it's calling her to something deeper within herself.
Sometimes, however, the sense of the sacred comes not from external stimuli, but from within our own minds. Kempken believes that our thoughts are the first encounter we have with the sacred in our world. Recognizing this, we can begin to understand the immense power our thoughts hold. They can create a castle or tear one down.
